Fix SEDOL | Calculate SEDOL Check Digit
A SEDOL (Stock Exchange Daily Official List) is a 7-character alphanumeric code that serves as the National Securities Identifying Number for all securities issued in Ireland and the United Kingdom. If you would like to apply for a SEDOL code and need assistance with creating or generating and obtaining a SEDOL number please reach out to us for application assistance needs by email: isin@isin.org
A SEDOL consists of two parts:
- A six-character alphanumeric code
- A single check digit.
For example: B29VX20 (Invesco)
On this page, you can either:
- enter a SEDOL without the check digit, or:
- enter a full SEDOL you would like to fix.
In both cases, a correct SEDOL will be calculated for you, if possible. Note that the result can be a non-existing SEDOL, since it is being calculated!
Disclaimers:
- Note that the result can be a non-existing number. Since it is being calculated by an algorithm, even if a number like an ISIN or SEDOL shows up it may not exist – it’s just the algorithm showing what could exists.
- This tool is an algorithm. Just because you enter a code does not mean it is an active number or a created number. Even if a code is generated it does not indicate that the code is active or was created.
- The term “SEDOL: refers to the national number for securities issued for UK and Ireland securities which is seven digits in length. ISIN.org has no affiliation with SEDOL operators, and as indicated in many places on ISIN.org we are staunchly independent of such organization, including banks, financial institutions, stock exchanges and associations that operate in the securities identification market globally. ISIN.org does not contain a SEDOL database of any kind.
