Warrants
Warrants are a popular way to raise capital. A warrant essentially is a derivative security that gives the holder of the security the right to purchase more securities from the company at a precise price within a finite amount of time. Warrants are typically equity related and a good example would be shares: a person owns shares in the company, or would like to invest in the company is offered warrants. These new warrants which can be purchased at a good price, but must be purchased within a maximum timeframe. Aside from ISIN codes being assigned to warrants, other securities identifiers such a CUSIP numbers and even SEDOL codes are often used to identify warrants.
